Matthew (Giggsie) Bell Joint Director

With over 25+ years of experience in the interactive entertainment industry, Matt brings a diverse and highly specialised skill set to the table. Throughout his career, he has contributed to the development of industry-defining franchises like Assassin’s Creed and Star Wars, working with leading companies such as Ubisoft (France), Bandai Namco (Japan), and Keywords (UK), often in leadership roles.

His extensive experience in game development, which requires a broad and deep understanding of software development, has been instrumental in shaping the visual appeal of MineMage while ensuring a high-performance engine. One key principle Matt has carried from the gaming industry is 'Player First,' emphasising that all design decisions must be viewed through the lens of the customer or end-user—a philosophy that underpins his work on MineMage.

Matt's expertise includes:

Technical aspects of rendering pipelines (2D/3D graphics)
DevOps for large-scale projects involving 2,000 staff across multiple countries
Advocating for technical goals at both project and studio levels
Team management and development
Digital content creation (UI/UX, 2D, 3D, VFX, Animation)
Software development with a focus on C# and GPU technologies.

David (Dave) Hollingsworth Joint Director
"The Miner"

David is a qualified Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Banking, Finance, and Risk Management. He has successfully led a wide range of complex projects across various industries, with the majority of his career spent in the mining industry, working with a variety of commodities. Since 2017, David has transitioned into a management consulting role, where he has been instrumental in helping mining operations enhance their Management Operating Systems (MOS). Known for his ability to adapt quickly to dynamic and evolving environments, David places strategic planning and organisational values at the core of his business decisions and recommendations.

How MineMage and the name came about

During David's time as a Management Consultant in the mining industry, combined with his previous exposure to data and coding, he naturally gravitated towards the 'Check' phase of the Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle from the Deming model. David soon realised he was consistently producing similar reports and dashboards on mine productivity and performance, regardless of the client. This sparked the idea of creating a turnkey, out-of-the-box solution to streamline data analysis across the mining sector.

In 2018, David & Matt joined forces to bring this vision to life. Matt, with his unique skill set honed over a successful career in the video game industry—working on major titles like Assassin’s Creed and Star Wars—quickly transformed David's initial Excel and macro-based concept into a web-based prototype.

When it came time to name the software, Matt and David combined elements from their respective fields: 'Mage' from Matt's background in fantasy video game development, and 'Mine' from David’s mining experience. With that, 'MineMage' was born.

At Gigworth, we like to keep things lighthearted. If you have the pleasure of meeting us, you'll see that we maintain a playful spirit, often joking that David is the 'Miner' and Matt is the 'Magician' as we continue to develop MineMage and work closely with our clients.
